From super high-end designs—not just on the cutting edge, but beyond—to entry-level, economical, yet dependable, durable performers, they’re all here. (Check out the BMX pedals post for a different slant on things).
The range from high “down” to economical isn’t about descending from “good” to “less good”, by the way. Your choice of pedal will depend on the needs of your target group. You’ll be looking to design a product for them, that fits the type of riding they’re into, and what level of performance they expect. Enabling you to meet your customers’ expectations [link-to-ABOUT] is the essence of what we do here at SCADA.
The 6061 Aluminum, CNC-machined body range contains the most technically advanced models. Recent additions to this group are SC-B641, SC-B643, and SC-B636. B641 is particularly nifty. Not only is each of the 10 pins replaceable, each is also adjustable. Your customer loosens a pin (it’s effectively a mini-bolt), then slides it along the groove machined into the body. Professional level and dedicated riders really need this sort of micro-adaptability you could say. The other standard spec for these models are the CNC-machined chromoly axle, LSL bushing sealed bearing, and a range of anodized colors. Aside from its one-piece CNC-machined body, SC-B680 is notable for the large bearing and long axle. That gives you a more durable bearing. Add to this the wider pedal surface area, lower profile design (13mm surface to surface) bringing the pedal surface closer to the axle and thus the center of gravity (6.5mm from pedal surface to axle centerpoint) delivers a tangible increase in performance.
Die-cast Aluminum models offer attractive possibilities. You have a CNC-machined chromology axle, LSL bushing sealed bearing, and replaceable grip pins along with a number of other possible variations. SC-B655-1 has this standard spec. SC-B655 offers mold-in pins, if pin replacement is not all that important. SC-B655B-1 is the version with ball bearings; SC-655B has ball bearings and mold-in pins. Die-cast Magnesium is an option. Not as strong as aluminium but a good deal lighter. Check out SC-B635Mg and SC-B678Mg.
Polycarbonate and Thermoplastic options.
Polycarbonate, such as SC-B676, is an option. The body is one-piece polycarbonate with a chromoly axle and ball bearings. SC-B656P’s nylon body is an alternative. Thermoplastic options include SC-B625. The axle is CNC-machined chromoly. The bearing LNL bushing, sealed. The grip pins are replaceable. 7 colors are available. SC-B686 is similar, but offers a sligtly larger pedal surface area: 113mm x 114mm vs 113mm x 105mm.
